In one of the recent Instagram posts made by one of the general physicians and lifestyle consultants based in Mumbai, Dr Akshat Chadha, he shared a diet plan that is made in a specific way to build up your body defences.

Best Way To Kick Off Your Day

Dr. Chadha offers the best advice in starting your day with the increasing pollution outside by drinking some warm water in a glass. He said, it is really important to have your day off on the right foot. In a hurry a glass of warm water will do. When you have time, you may add 3- 4 tsp turmeric powder or use kacha haldi or raw haldi with a pinch of black pepper. You may also squeeze 1/4 to half a lemon in a water, and put 3-5 tulsi leaf or 2-3 cloves in alternate days in the same concoction.

The lifestyle consultant will then recommend you to have 5-6 soaked almonds, one whole walnut, and 1-2 teaspoons of soaked sunflower or pumpkin seeds to maintain you long time and protect your immune system.

Diet Plans To Beat Pollution

In breakfast, Dr. Chahata recommends that light breakfast containing fruit and glass of Sattu shake is enough. The Mumbai-based physician however advises that you should make sure you take plenty of vegetables and legumes especially during lunch and dinner.
In the caption of his most recent Instagram post, he explained, write, Cook at least once a week:

veggies: cooked cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, radish, carrots, bell peppers, tomatoes, pumpkin, and methi. Serving them with rajma, chole or dals and a high carbohydrate grain like rice, millets, chapati, quinoa or oats. Restrict dairy, red meat, soft drinks and processed foods.

Other Critical Things To Have in Mind

Most medical experts advise on the consumption of fruits to combat pollution associated with oxidative stress. This is recommended even by Dr. Chadha who insists that you should make sure that you add one fruit daily particularly citrus, guava, kiwi, papaya or pomegranate either as a snack before you work out or at night. Do not take fruit juices, smoothies, or milkshakes.

He further commented that, when the garlic is not acidic then add an additional clove to dal curry, veg juice or soup. Eat dinner 2-3 hours prior to going to bed and do not snack after the dinner. Take 2-3 litres of water during the day but ensure that most of the drinking water is taken in the morning so that the mucus can be swept away. Never pop antibiotics unless it is prescribed by a doctor.

Finally, to prevent breathlessness and palpitations, the doctor advises against a shortage of vitamin D, B12, or iron since pollution along with anaemia may lead to grazing.
